The Mermaid's Revenge
03:04
|
|||
One of us will be alive by the breaking of the dawn
I'm resolved that person will be me
With his blood I pay the tithe so that I may be reborn
Unabsolved, the waves will receive me
Blow, wind, blow!
Fill my lungs with shouting
Burn, sky, burn!
Stoke my heart with fire
Flow, rain, flow!
Wash away my doubting
Turn, earth, turn!
With you I'll conspire
He said:
"I had never seen the sky 'til I gazed into your eyes
From tonight our lives start in earnest
Never will I leave your side, for when two worlds collide
There's a spark that kindles a furnace
Blow, wind, blow!
Fly us to the heavens
Burn, sky, burn!
Fill our days with sun
Flow, rain, flow
Quench our thirst forever
Turn, earth, turn!
With you we will run"
I'm the reason he's alive so his life I shall reclaim
One more stab of pain won't undo me
I made every sacrifice but her beauty stole my light
She's so bright, he's looking right through me
Blow, wind, blow!
Fill my lungs with shouting
Burn, sky, burn!
Stoke my heart with fire
Flow, rain, flow!
Wash away my doubting
Turn, earth, turn!
With you I'll conspire
One of us will be alive by the breaking of the dawn
I'm resolved that person will be me

Lotus Eaters
03:41
|
|||
We stopped to take on water on a long laconic shore
Broken and defeated by the searing scars of war
When through the dusty darkness we glimpsed a glowing flame
And soon the mild-eyed melancholy Lotus Eaters came
And they said:
"Why the struggle? Watch the trees
They don't have to toil to drop their fruit or shed their leaves
What's to fight for? All will fall
Mountains will crumble, time will claim the strongest city walls
After all...
You're with the Lotus Eaters now
No need to worry how the world spins round
No need to keep your head out of the clouds
Why cling to hope of homeward bound?
'Cause here we've all you need, the Lotus leaves
Will send you on a slumber sweet and sound
So stick around..."
Stop! Wake up! You're dead behind the eyes
We haven't reached our home and there are battles still to fight
What happened to the spark that fear and fury would ignite?
I've lost you to the Lotus and its languid little lies
"Let us stay here! What will last?
Nothing but fractured fragments of the dark and dreadful past
What's to fight for? All will fall."
Well, I say better to make a stand than stranded with no hope at all
As they call...
"You're with the Lotus Eaters now
No need to worry how the world spins round
No need to keep your head out of the clouds
Why cling to hope of homeward bound?
'Cause here we've all you need, the Lotus leaves
Will send you on a slumber sweet and sound
So stick around..."
World forgive me, I'm so tired
I searched inside me but the spark of fury had expired
It transpired...
I'm with the Lotus Eaters now
No need to worry now, though I'm not proud
Let others make the world keep spinning round
Forget the life you left behind
Before the Lotus drives it from my mind
I'll leave these words for followers to find
Don't get entwined
You'll lose your mind...

Jekyll & Hyde 4eva

I recall your face
Features I have seen somewhere before
When I leave my place
A shadow of you follows through the door
In the puddle mirrored pavements
Glistening in street lights
You're staring back at me through my own eyes
And I can't help thinking you're the kind of chap I'd like to know
So it's time to change, I'm letting myself go
'Cause I've never met a chap like you
You're so exciting
From now on I'm plotting schemes for two
And I know I could change my aims and stay the same
But I'd never get that far
So I wonder who the real me and you are
Oh, I wonder who the real me and you are
Love's a potent drug
I can feel you coursing through my veins
We are so in touch
Sometimes it's as if we share a brain
Oh, and I can never shake you
However far I stray
I may rove and roam but you remain
And they'll try to hate us, separate us
But we're closer than they think
And I sure get nasty when I've had a drink...
'Cause I've never met a chap like you
You're so exciting
From now on I'm plotting schemes for two
And I know I could change my aims and stay the same
But I'd never get that far
So I wonder who the real me and you are
Oh, I wonder who the real me and you are
I don't want to change
I'm feeling strange
Have I take it too far?
Oh, I wonder who the real me and you are
Oh, I wonder who the real me and you are...

My mind was ringing with echoes
When I told you to let go
When I sent you from me
Now sitting here at my mirror
With the light getting dimmer
I can see myself clearly
And I'll never reconcile
Those bright eyes and flashing smile
With the mind that whirs and winds
And finds fault in all I see
But I think I'll stay awhile
Sit and stare and sulk in style
And I never said that everything would be the same
And I never promised I would be OK with change
And I never meant to hurt you
But if you feel no pain, then
That's enough for me
That's enough for me
Looking is all I am doing
I would face my own ruin
If these looks didn't stay
I can't decide if I miss you
There are more pressing issues
Like remaining this way
And I'll never sympathise
With that place behind my eyes
Cells that order me to lie
And buy time with money
But I'm kind of mesmerised
By the face they hide behind
And I know I need someone who feels and thinks the same
And I know that person isn't real and can't be named
And I never meant to spurn you
But if you feel no blame, then
That's enough for me
That's enough for me
I know they'll soon come and get me
You would never have let me
Reach the state I'm in now
Counting the cracks in the pavement
One more day of enslavement
To the lines on my brow
Just another little tweak
Rolls the clock back one more week
If I could I would rewind the time I was with you
All those years I can't reclaim
But my youth I shall retain
And I'll never have that natural glow or natural grace
And I'll always have to cast my spell in other ways
And these dotted lines are painful
But that's the price I pay, and
That's enough for me

Dagon Lake
03:24
|
|||
Jimmy Steer the fisherman
Was walking by the shore
Where he beheld his kinsfolk dear
And watched them weep and mourn
There they clutched a covered corpse
In tears they cradled him
“By the lake his soul was claimed,
Alas, he could not swim.
He should not have sailed on Dagon Lake
For strange things happen there
Voices from other worlds arrive on the air.”
Down Jim ran and asked of them:
“What poor dead soul lies here?”
No sooner had they noticed him
Than they recoiled in fear
“What hateful apparition are you?
What strange hound of hell?”
“I am no ghost, here, take my hand
You'll see I'm safe and well.”
“If you are my husband.” proclaimed his wife
“Then what is this dead wraith?
For under this sheet you'll see your very own face.
I know you have no brother
And I know you have no twin
Yet here are your same shaving scars
That mark this changeling's chin.”
“It's true I sailed on Dagon Lake
Though I saw nothing strange
My hand was cut and drops of blood
Did mingle with the waves.
I fear that the lake made this mirror of me
I'm glad that drowned he be
If I'd have known how to swim then so might he
Madeleine, she craved a friend
And strongly she could swim
Willingly she cut her hand
And let the blood fall in
Later on that night she heard
A knock upon her door
And how the wraith recoiled in fear
When Madeleine it saw
“Why do you sit in my chair?” it cried
“Why do you weave my loom?
Devil, be gone, or I am forced to slay you.”

Cruel to be Cruel
02:47
|
|||
I toed the line
Was calm and kind
Still they betrayed me
So I must teach them to hate me
The price I pay
To get my way
Wish you'd have known me
When only kindness controlled me
Needles that sting
They tell you a thing
You have to be cruel to be kind
Well, I have to be cruel to be cruel
And I'm cruel all the time
The dark descends
The present tense
Draws in to meet me
Soon sightless silence will greet me
The wind protests
That he knows best
He can't deceive me
Soon all my troubles will leave me
Needles that sting
They tell you a thing
You have to be cruel to be kind
Well, I have to be cruel to be cruel
And I'm cruel all the time
